Usually, my first day in a new place is somehow…chaotic. After I check in at my hotel, I take the map and study the city a little bit. Then I take a stroll around to see what’s going on, what restaurants are appealing to my palate, what places are worth to be visited. The first day is an orientation day and even though I make tough plans from home, I do spend my first day exploring the novelty of the place. I love it! New things excite me, challenge me! I am never afraid, because my curiosity is way too intrusive, but this particular thing feels me up with plenty of energy and positivity. It never gets me tired. I love change and I always embrace it with sparkles in my eyes. Walking on the streets of Barcelona is a continuous excitement for one’s senses. Think about all the pastries and coffee shops. Ah, a pleasure and a feast! Everyday!
This is how I discovered Chök hidden on a tiny street of Barcelona. I fell in love with it. And everyday in the morning I would go like hypnotized to the little shop in order to get me something decadent from their chocolate kitchen. A fresh pistachio – caramel – chocolate – doughnut, a couple of macarons, or an exquisite cupcake! If you are in Barcelona, do not miss this place, as it will change your opinion about donuts and chocolate for the rest of your life. It’s definitely not your American donut. The Chök donuts are made of a delicious, buttery pastry that literally melts in your mouth and proves you one more time that “la vita e bella”! The guys that are working there are awesome and they will explain in detail every single donut with patience and much love! You can see it for yourself here http://www.chokbarcelona.com.
I had a real fiesta every morning and that was all I needed to start my day along Las Ramblas and head towards the Port Vell.
