Ok, Ladies. How far would you go to preserve your skin as young and beautiful as you can? Would you put snail slime on your face if you knew it does wonders? Well, probably a lot of us would think twice before indulging in some pure snail slime, but a snail cream sounds more attractive and approachable. It actually is used as a beauty treatment and is believed to reduce inflammation, redness, lock moisture into the skin, and stimulate skin regeneration. The mucus secreted by snails is full of collagen glycolic acid antibiotics, and other compounds that help regenerate skin cells and heal cuts.

I don’t know how many of you actually saw and touched a snail, but I remember I used to play with them in my backyard. I was begging them to come out of their shell and for this we used to sing a little song to relax the snail and make it show up. Many times it actually worked and you’d see the snail coming out gloriously covered in mucus. I never thought that the slime excreted from its body as a sign of protection, is packed with nutrients like hyaluronic acid, glycoprotein enzymes, antimicrobial and copper peptides, and proteoglycans. All of these nutrients are believed to provide many skin benefits.

Snail mucus as any other natural ingredients comes with a long history. It looks like the regenerative properties of the snail slime date back to Ancient Greece, where Hippocrates, reportedly prescribed crushed snails and sour milk as a way to relieve the skin of inflammation. I know, it’s pretty repellent. Thanks God for the modern medicine! The most recent discovery of the wonders of the snails comes from Chilean farmers who used to handle snails for the French market and noticed their hands becoming visibly smoother. Also, the small cuts and scrapes healed faster. It is the secreted slime discovered by these farmers that is processed to produce snail cream. It is pretty much like the story of SK –II, in which Japanese sake workers quickly noticed that their hands appeared younger than their faces and this way the sake by-product became the secret ingredient of SK-II.

One of my favourite brands that focuses exclusively on the snail slime is Mizon. I personally tried all the Mizon snail products and I cannot stress enough how pleased I am with them. After applying the All-In-One Snail Cream which contains 92% of snail secretion filtrate, skin instantly becomes smoother, dewy, and revitalized.

With Love,
