Gosh, I cannot believe the fall is over and the winter is almost here. Since I started blogging it looks like time flies by with the speed of light. I am not done with the fall! Not yet. But, I guess it’s all because of the place where I live. Here everything is done at a much slower pace, therefore just by looking outside, I can tell that we are not ready for the winter. It’s still sunny, warm, and beautiful.
As I mentioned before, I love the fall season, the real fall season, the New York style autumn. While I am sure there are a bunch of Northern cities where the magic of the fall can be enjoyed, I believe that New York city has a very special charm during this period of time and I am glad I had the possibility to jump on the plane and just go there to spend some quality time in Bryant Park and feel the love of the colorful New York. Where else can someone do that and get a better picture? Not sure..maybe Canada. I loved the fall while living in Montreal, but again, it’s way too short, as the winter is knocking at your door in the mid October. Not a fan of that!
New York City is that kind of place that might scare you at the beginning.
You might not even like it. I know I didn’t, when I visited it for the first time in my life back in 2009. I didn’t like it because, I guess I had never seen anything like this in my entire life and honestly, it intimidated me. Its gigantesque proportions, the never-ending buildings, the excruciating traffic, and the crowds on the streets were some factors that overwhelmed me. I remember how I couldn’t wait to actually go back home, to South Carolina, where everything is quite, peaceful, and relaxing. Now, if you are to go the second time…the magic happens. I would really suggest you to go during the fall, when there is something very special about this city. It just mesmerizes and engulfs your soul in a hard-to-define pleasure, a dream. NYC is the place, where many of you dreams start to gather more courage. Out of a sudden, one just feels that everything is possible. The vibe of the city makes you feel extremely small, but at the same time it whispers sort of a love song that gives you power and confidence.
There is a real value in the diversity of the city, the culture, the energy, the creativity. It can drive you mad as well, but I make certain we all appreciate it. /Liev Schreiber/
Fall time in NYC is extremely special not only because of the colors, that are absolutely gorgeous, but also because of the chilly air that enables you to beautifully layer your clothes. It’s not cold, it’s not warm, it’s just the perfect temperature somewhere in between. It’s truly refreshing. It just makes you realize how beautiful life is and that there are so many ways to live it to the fullest.
I especially love to drink my coffee in one of the thousands amazing coffee places in the city. Oh, and the smell of pastries everywhere reminds me so much of Italy. Literally, you can feel the enticing aroma as soon as you get off the plane!
I spent only 3 days in New York city, not enough to really plunge into that fast paced world, but pretty enough to live the season in all its glamour. As always, the first day in a new place I get a bit confused and overly enthusiastic so I try to use it in order to explore the surroundings. I would always get a room somewhere close to Time Square in order to have plenty of possibilities and be close to every whim 🙂
My top priorities during this short visit were:
- The Central Park – always wanted to visit it and it’s quite big. I actually spent almost a whole day there enjoying the beauty, taking pictures, and just being happy.
- The New York Public Library – a lovely place where one would find lots and lots of inspiration!
- Korea Town – I was particularly interested in visiting this place because of my love for the Korean skin care products and makeup. Also, if you are wandering around this place, just make sure you go to Paris Baguette, a coffee shop that will excite your palate. The place is absolutely exquisite!
- The 5th Avenue – I guess here no explanation is needed.
- Bryant Park – Absolutely Gorgeous!
- Chelsea Market – There you will find some great food and other international goodies! At Chelsea market I felt like in a different country. It’s very nice and cozy.
