Colorful garments – ball gowns, kimonos, evening pajamas – made from yards upon yards of iridescent silk or velvet. I own an unjustifiable number of such outfits and jump at the chance to wear them. Against the etiquette about which I am otherwise all too conscious, I frequently, and unrepentantly, overdress for the occasion. (Julia Glass)
So true, Mrs. Glass! I do understand this unconditional love, this mad obsession! I would add some lace to this awesome statement!
The outfit in this post is one of my all time favourite since I put together a bunch of clothing pieces that I totally love: Velvet – lace black romper, over-the-knee effect tights, wool poncho, suede-leather boots, fringed bag. Love, love, love it and it’s one of my “go to” outfit of this fall. A long time I wasn’t a fan of ponchos. Not sure why, but I just found them uncomfortable and just too…well…overwhelming…until I tried one. I am glad I did. They are very popular and if styled carefully they can provide quite a transformation. Coziness in style!
Again the black velvet is the star and as you can see I cannot have enough of this plush fabric. It gets better when it is combined with some thin, elegant lace. I must admit that I always loved it, but it wasn’t very easy to find a nice piece that I would wear. This fall all the designers and retailers incorporated the luscious velvet into their designs and I am totally hooked. Already planned for my next velvet piece: midnight blue gown. Cannot wait!
With velvet love,
