“The three great elemental sounds in nature are the sound of rain, the sound of wind in a primeval wood, and the sound of outer ocean on a beach”. (Henry Beston)

Too many times I hear people complaining about rain. I love it. The quite, calm, and life-giving rain. I love the effect it has on me. It gives me the opportunity to stop from my everyday life and take a deep breath for a minute. You see, when it’s sunny and “bubbly”, it looks like everybody got something to do, somewhere to go. In today’s society, everybody is constantly moving, running, catching up. If you don’t do that, you feel like you would miss something. When the rain comes…it just changes everything. The modern life as we know it is “paused” for a while and man…it feels good. At least, it feels good to me. I love waking up in the morning and hearing the rain knocking at my window. It suddenly relaxes my mind, my soul, my entire being. I would quietly open my window and let the fresh air mesmerize my senses. Oh, and that cup of coffee, it tastes so differently on a rainy day.

As for getting out there, yes, the rain may be somehow discouraging and bring a little bit of discomfort, but again it comes to positive thinking and control of your own emotions. It’s about creating the state of mind you want to be in, by manipulating your environment and, of course, your daily outfit. Usually, on cold, rainy days, people would wear darker colors (me included). But, in the end it all comes to how you make that dark color actually shine and make you feel awesome inside and out. Today, I gave the murky, rainy day a bit of color and a very big smile. It was awesome.

How do you survive the rainy days?

Always,

Sabina
